Alternate healing? Not these ones...

Was given some weird health advice today by a random customer. It's one of those alternate medicine advice given by someone who claimed that hospitals are ripping everyone off by issuing medicines and chemo-therapies and surgeries that cost thousands of dollars and keeping everyone in the dark of these "natural" remedies.

I went home, googled his "advices" and I won't try any of them, so they are not worth repeating on this blog, nor will I promote it (the guy said "let everyone of your friends know, the current generation is missing out on these valuable cures"). Keywords for those who are curious though: black salve (nasty nasty images when I googled this, so be warned), kerosene (I know, people drink this stuff??) and borax (cleaning agent!! Hello!!)

Anyway, that's the end of the story for today, here's food:

I sincerely hope you didn't find any nasty pictures if you did decide to google, and anyway, I can think of many many many more appetizing things that I want to ingest than kerosene and cleaning agents.

This was from Seabay again, and we can't get enough of this place. It's actually really close to World Square- directly opposite one of its many entrances. This place is always packed during lunch time. Pigs' ear salad! :D ST, this is the pigs ear you need to try, Asian style!

Ok, bad photo, I shouldn't have taken such a close up shot of it. This is really fragrant lamb, I don't know what spices they used but it made me want to barge into their kitchen to find out.

Underneath all that lamb and onions are these flat translucent noodle-like things called "fen pi", directly translated to "flour skin", but it's really mung bean sheet. SO good, I went back again a second time and ordered the same thing.

Their XLB... hm... a bit crude, not as delicate as Shanghai restaurants. It's different. I guess Northern China does it a different way... the skin is thicker, but the meat and soup is still there.

More lamb! There's heaps of lamb dishes on their menu, again, probably a trait in Northern China cuisine.

What's left of the pigs ear salad after... I loved it, but I -don't- eat parsley. Call me picky or whatever, but it's possibly the only thing I won't eat. I'm not fond of raw garlic and onions, or ginger in general, but I will tolerate it and eat them if I had to, but not parsley. I'm talking about normal food, because I certainly won't eat weird stuff like balut either.

Ended with taro latte from nearby World Square, in one of the cafes. Now I'm actually craving Seabay.

Anyway, reverting back to the topic at the start, I do strongly believe that pharmaceutical products can only get one so far in terms of curing/ improving health, diet and lifestyle have huge impacts as well. What you eat is very important and affects how the body runs. Right now, mum's on low sodium, dad's on low sugar (yea right, I can only nag them so much, they have THE worst self-control, which I never knew in the past)... I guess optimum health hard to achieve for people who love to eat everything, like my parents.

Oh well, I guess in a sense, we've saved ourselves a lot of trouble by simply not smoking or drinking =D
